APRIL

The first magnets for the transfer lines of the LHC arrive from Russia. Composed of 540 magnets, the transfer lines will transport beams from the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) accelerator to the LHC.

FEBRUARY

The industrial production of the ATLAS toroid magnet system, the largest in the world, starts with the manufacture of the superconducting cables.
