The SPS accelerator, which will have to feed the LHC, beats an intensity record with 50 thousand billion protons accelerated in its 7 kilometre loop.
OCTOBER
The new SPS-to-LHC transfer line was successfully tested. A beam passed over the 2.5-kilometre length of the transfer line, which connects the two accelerators, within a few metres of the LHC tunnel.
